Update Manager

Dear all,

when I use the update manager in my vcenter 5.1 server to upgrade my  4.1 hosts ( to 5.1 esxi )and followed by my 60 vm`s do I need to disconnect the san,..???

makes no sense to me but I keep reading this in some documents.

All hosts have SD cards with the ESXI os ,

all the vms etc are on the SAN
