Understanding VM statuses

Is there a document that expounds on the statuses listed here? vCloud REST API - GET-VApp

Some of these statuses I don't quite understand, like what is an 'entity' and what does it mean when it's 'resolved'? Also, When I deploy a cloud and poll the VM statuses during creation, the only statuses I ever see are POWERED_OFF and POWERED_ON. When should I be seeing DEPLOYED?
