I have an existing vsan cluster, all fine ... but I want to add another host to the cluster but not utilise it for vsan, for testing purposes, ideally I want it managed by the same vcenter, a standalone host effectively.
Is this possible to do?

This VM is attached to a network portgroupLANthat doesn't exist. Edit this VM and attach it to a different network.
The weird thing is that the portgroup actually exists. But when I open the portgroup it shows no VMs assigned to it. When I pull up the console for the VM I confirmed that its network connection is actually working. But if I attempt to edit the VM it will auto switch the portgroup the the NIC to some other one.
I ended up making a new portgroup with the same VLAN and switched my VMs over to that new portgroup. Once they were all moved over and confirmed working I deleted the original portgroup that wasnt working. Then I went back to a VM and got that damn yellow bar again but this time it was saying that the new portgroup doesnt exists.
Any Ideas?
Successfully installed the appliance and linked two vCenter accounts. Everything is green on the appliance website. When I go to vmware.com support and click Skyline I get this error and not sure what it means:

I have a PowerShell script that I use to deploy vCSA. It generates the JSON template file for the vcsa-deploy.exe to use as an answer file.
The JSON being produced has worked perfectly fine with the vcsa-deploy.exe file from vCSA 6.0 and 6.5 media.
I tried today with the latest 6.7 media from the VMware-VCSA-all-6.7.0-10244745.iso and the syntax validator is tripping up all over the place.
PowerShell by default escapes certain characters, such as the apostrophe, within a string value - it replaces it with a \u0027 - which is valid JSON. I know that the apostrophe does not need to be escaped since it is enclosed in double-quotes, but for some reason PowerShell decides to do it anyway. (I know how to make PowerShell not do that.) But the previous JSON syntax validator from 6.0 and 6.5 media had absolutely no issue with this escape sequence. The new syntax validator does not like the backslash and feels it should have been escaped itself.
The other issue - and the one way more pressing - is that the JSON validator for 6.7 keeps failing a completely valid JSON file. It is being rejected because of the last closing curly bracket:

The character the syntax validator is complaining about, is the very last curly bracket that needs to be there. I triple checked the JSON file to make sure I don't have an errand bracket, and it does not.
To me this sounds like the syntax validator has a bug. Does anyone have any insight?
I have a windows 10 template, installed the Guest Agent and have a cert.pem. The guest agent service is running and all the logs look fine, comparing it to another working template and it looks similar.
When I request this Windows 10 template from vRA, the allocation succeeds but the provisioning was taking a while. I went to the vCenter and could see the new windows 10 machine. When opening the console I notices an 'Install Windows' box, with "Windows could not finish configuring the system. To attempt to resume configuration, restart the computer".
On vRA, when the machine eventually fails, it says Timeout Customizing Machine
Am I missing something, why would this be happening?

We have a Vmware Horizon farm 7.4.
It is necessary to prohibit the redirection of all printers and all devices to the VDI machine from the user's laptop. Is it possible at the agent level to ban?
I have just installed VMware Horizon 7.6 for the first time and created a desktop pool which I put a Win10 VM (with VMware View Agent installed on it) into.
Since then the VM starts up automatically and I am not able to keep it turned off anymore. Everytime I shut it down it starts up automatically again.
Only when I shut down the connection server the VM remains turned off. So it must have something to do with the connection server.
As I am new to VMware Horizon could someone please tell me where I can find the option to prevent the VM from starting up automatically?

We wil to work with vRA 7.5 & vROPS 7.0 for VM placement.
We have this :
With vROPS 7.0 it's possible to move VM between the ESXi cluster BUT in vRA One cluster = One compute resource = One reservation = VM assigned reservation.
If vROPS move the vm form "Reservation 01" to "Reservation 02", vRA will loose the VM bacause wrong reservation is assigned to her.
What is the best solution ? It's possible to dynamically update vRA reservation if vROPS move the vm to an other Cluster ?

Ive traditionally never used CPU Reservatations or Limitatations.
However my new client wants to manage their CPU host overprovisioning with reservations based on Host CPU availability after an overhead allowance for the Hypervisor and a general 20% has been built in..
My Client is proposing VMs with contention ratios as below:

4:1
8:1
So before i plough in id like to check what is being proposed with a wider audience,.
According to the design, VMs with no contention receive the default reservation.
Those with a contention set; will have a CPU mhz reservation value set to pin their CPU mhz resource down by ensuring a specific guarantee is set against the VM.
However surley the default value for CPU Limits now applies which i beleive is "Unlimited". Therefore those VMs which previously had their CPU rescourses guranteed with a custom Reservation can still exceed this limit at will (unless both the CPU Reservation and CPU Limit fields are set to the same value...),
I hope this is clear to someone and would welcome any thoughts.

The feature list for Workstation 11 says, "Workstation 11 has been optimized to support higher resolution displays like the new QHD+ (3200x1800) displays used in laptops and x86 tablets." This was a big selling point for me, as I have a Yoga 2 Pro (3200x1800). When I boot up my Ubuntu VM, though, the display still appears tiny, and most things are too small to read. I expected to be able to scale this up so I can work with it properly on my ultrafine pixel screen, but I don't see any way to do that. This all sees the same as Workstation 10. There is the ability to go fullscreen and scale, but I am accustomed to working with multiple VMs at a time in separate windows. What am I missing?
I'm attempting to upgrade vCSA from 6.5U2c to 6.7U1, but keep getting a pre-ugprade check failed message.
Error Message:

I've restarted the 6.5U2 and even restarted the upgrade process with no luck. A search does not bring up anything unfortunately. Anyone have an idea what I might need to possibly check for?
I was trying to buy a license for my VMware ESXi 6.5.0 host/server machine. The state shown on the host's web is Normal (Not connected to any vCenter Server, I don't want to use that either). Right now the server is in evaluation mode (aprox. 30 days remaining). I tried logging-in to the myVMware account and searched for ESXi but didn't got any matching product names, there were some courses and upgrading things. Can someone please guide me to the process? Also, the free license key that is included as Hypervisor, Can I use that too? I am just running a host with 4 VMs and nothing else special but those VMs are serving the commercial purposes. I know the limitations of this Hypervisor license, and I am ok with that.
I know where to put the key after getting it, so please do not show me those links. I need to know the place where I can really BUY the license or if I can use the free one?
Why is this happening on a an upgrade to the lates version on the latest version of Macos....

Some weeks ago I upgraded my hard disk, cloned it, installed it and all worked fine except that my virtual machines hadn't access to the network with the host machine. I posted a massage in this forum and got the solution: Edit >Virtual Network Editor>Restore Default. It Worked. But now, two or three times a day the virtual machine seems to lose the net connection and I have to apply the solution again. Is there anything i can do to fix it?

When a user logs in with Writable Volume attached they get the error "svoffice.exe this application could not be started" They can click No and they continue to log in with no other issues. Please advise on how to resolve this. This is quite an annoyance
