Hello,

I need to install vSphere Web Client 'cause my Vsphere client doesn't work with some VM.

How I can do that?

I read vSphere Documentation Center but is not clear.

I downloaded serenity-client (I found It in google) but It's different from the guide and there isn't filese like the guide says.

Do you know a good guide step by step with also correct links for download?

Thanks

Win 10 VMware® Workstation 12 Pro Upgrading to 12.0.1 or 12.1.0 Keyboard and Mouse freeze

Win 10, 64-bit  (Build 10586) 10.0.10586, VMware® Workstation 12.0.0 Pro all is fine.

If I upgrade to VMware® Workstation 12.0.1 or now to VMware® Workstation 12.1.0

and restart the Windows 10 System, the Keyboard and the Mouse Freezes.

There is no way to have a responding system.

The Power button and Restoring to te last saved Point is the only solution to take over the System.

Anyone has a similar problem?

How to calculate CPU Ready on DRS Cluster via Powercli?

$

Hello everyone!

I Have a Vsphere DRS cluster. I want to know what value of CPU Ready I have in my cluster.

For example, I get value 20% from powercli, It's normal for cluster, but if  I have 100% or more, I have a problem.

How to realize it via Powercli? And how calculate percentage values correctly?

I know, I can get all CPU Ready values from VMs in cluster, but IT's not the same, I need overall CPU Ready value.

Thanks in advance!

P2V of a Windows 7 OEM Workstation

Hi,

It is requested by my manager to perform a P2V of a Windows 7 workstation running OEM license.

After the P2V, windows license is not genuine and need another license key to reactivate (We have done this part).

Then we run SYSPREP but we get a fatal error.  We just wonder whether it would be a problem if we use the VM (i.e. P2V one) and physical workstation running Windows 7 for a while (Both of them have been joined to AD) ?   Do we need to remove the physical workstation from AD as SYSPREP fails ?

Thanks

PCoIP Session Disconnecting

Hi Guys,

I'm using Horizon View 5.3.2 and it has been working fine. I've upgraded View environment to 6.2.0 build-3005368 and left the VDI (linked clones) running on old agent 5.3.2.1887719 everything was still working as usual. Then I decided to upgrade my vCenter and ESXi environment to 6.0 which was smooth enough. I tried to connect to my VDI through PCoIP/Blast (HTML)  but it disconnects after showing black screen.

After that I checked my VDI machine VM Tools were upgraded to latest version. I removed VM Tools and also removed View Agent. Reinstalled VMTool and View agent in sequence so I can recompose VDI but the issue is still there.

I've grabbed pcoip_server logs but I can't find out what's causing the issue.

Could someone please look at the attached pcoip_server logs and see what could be reason for the PCoIP or Blast session disconnects.

Slow network speeds (host: osx guest: freenas)

hey,

I'm having some problems with network speeds when transferring data to and from my freenas VM. here are some tests i did:

All remote disks are Virtual disk files (.VMDK)

Physical disk layout on host side:

Backup = Raid 1 (2 disks)

Download = Raid 0 (2 disks)

Raid 1 = Raid 5 (5 disks)

Raid 2 = Raid 5 (5 disks)

Swap = 1 disk (not actual swap, this is a share that doesn't have a password and is used to dump temporarily before placing it where it belongs)

Test file size = 5x 1GB set per test

VM settings:

CPU: 3 cores (Intel core I5 (Mobile) 2,6 GHz)

RAM: 1 GB (DDR3 1600MHz)

Host: Mac Mini (end 2014)

OS-X 10.11.1

VMware Fusion Version 8,1,0 (3272237)

All disks connected via USB 3 on the host (average speed from host: 240/250MB)

NIC: 1GB Intel

I found some posts that also have slow performance on other setups so is there something that needs to be tweaked? If so, what can i do to improve the speeds? Also i need to work out how to not encryped the mounted volumes in freenas (the encryption chackbox when creating a new disk is unchacked and still it works with 256 bit encryption... but im guessing that i need to make another post on the freenas forums for that... so ill ask there

Move autodeploy ESX to new vCenter

Hi,

First of all Merry Christmas for all!

I have migrated tones of times hosts to new vCenter without downtime of VMS, just disconnecting, removing and connecting to new vCenter.

Now it comes up to me an environment with autodeploy, it should be the same easy procedure?

Two opinions came into my head, one is, yes, until host does not restart it is like a normal host, so I should be able to move it and then configure that host to be integrated with autodeploy in new vCenter.

By other side I don't really know if moving the host to the new vCenter will affect, host profile or other staff even is not rebooted. There are no dvswitches configured.

Anyone has face this scenario or can give me more info on that?

Thanks a lot in advance, any opinion will be appreciated.

Guest OS getting IP from unknown DHCP Server

$

First of all, hello!
My first post, i hope i am asking my quastion well heh.

So guys...
Im currently a IT student, at my school i am currently working with virtualization.
Before our teacher gave us the jobs that we had to do inside the VM we could choose either VMWare or VirtualBox

I used VMWare obviously, since i used it before it was was excelent!

im gonna write my problem but before i do that please keep in mind that i MUST be using NAT, im not allowed to use Bridge (believe me if i was allowed to use this i would not be here today)

But now my problem...
one of the Guest systems is getting a IP adress from a unknown DHCP Server. while i really thought it would get it from anohter guest server that is actually running the DHCP Server (Windows server 2012)

the IP that the guest client gets is the following
10.0.0.1
the default gateway is 192.168.30.1 (odd)

when i lookup in arp -a  i see that its linked with 00-AC-E5-14-E2-D0 (not the MAC of the guest itself, also not the MAC of the windows 2012 Server guest, and not my host either! so what the hell right?)

Some  information about the virutal network:

  • Once again, using NAT
  • DHCP is DISABLED
  • Connect a host virtual adapter to this network is checked
  • Subnet is 192.168.140.0, mask 255.255.255.0
  • Gateway is 192.168.140.2
  • Auto-get DNS Servers from host

Some server information:

  • IP is set as 192.168.140.100
The Scope is set as 192.168.140.110 to 192.168.140.120
  • Default gateway is setup was 192.168.140.2
  • subnet 255.255.255.0
  • Primary DNS set to localhost
  • Secondary DNS set to 192.168.140.2
  • Internet access WORKS!

And here is my setup

2 Systems running

  • Windows Server 2012
  • Windows 10

Windows Server 2012

  • Running DHCP Server
  • Running DNS Server
  • Running ADDS
  • And some few extra features..

Windows 10

  • Noting installed yet
  • NIC Configured as default so it would try to get a IP from a DHCP server

Things i already have done

  • Disable the build-in DHCP Server within vmware and configure the Win Server with a correct static IP adress (works, internet access granted!)
  • Remove and re-add a new Network adapter
  • Upgrade from VMware 11 to 12
  • restarting Win 10 client, not working...
  • ipconfig /release and renew, also flushhing dns but i dont think i should be worry about DNS at this moment.

And some things that i noticed...

  • While running the DHCP Server on Server 2012 i noitced that TWO Securenat-xxxx clients were connected to the Server. (not sure if this is OK or not)
  • Sometimes it DOES works. but very rare and it doesnt work long enough
  • i believe restarting my HOST system will temporally fix this issue rather then restarting VMware guest systems...
  • Shutting down the DHCP Server on Windows server 2012 still allowes the Windows 10 guest to grab a IP aderss from somewhere!

Please help im really lost i dont know where to look anymore

After reading this quastions and if your confused too, i can give you accsess to the server just to look for yourself.

Thank you all for your response already,

Best regards

EDIT:
The guest has still Internet access by the way! but not via the Server 2012

i can ping that 192.168.30.1 from the guest client

but Server 2012 cannot ping that IP.

Also, the Guest client can ping the server but the server cannot ping him back (10.0.0.1 - Remember that i did not configure this)
EDIT #2

i just had to forward some ports within VMWare workstation, after i was done i applied and closed the vmware and restarted my host system.
After i attempted to boot into my windows client there was a red cross in my NIC witch makes me believe that there is something wrong with VMWare

This also worked before!

Hi Guys,

Has anyone successfully upgraded ESXi 5.5 to ESXi 6.0 either on Dell XS23-TY3 ( C6100 ) or Dell C6220? I can't find both servers on VMware HCL for ESXi 6 but wanted to know if anyone upgraded it?

ESXi 5.5 motherboard compatiblity

Hi all,

Due to financial constraints I am going to use a nested solution for my home lab on a powerful white box machine with at least 32 GB of RAM and Xeon processor but I need some clarification and I hope someone will answer my questions shown below:

1. Does it matter what motherboard I get if my home lab to be nested on VMware workstation?

2. Is the VMware Compatibility Guide for bare-metal hypervisor?

3. Which of these motherboards (ASRock, ASUS, GIGABYTE, Intel, MSI and SUPERMICRO) is suitable for my home lab?

Thank you and I look forward to hear your recommendations?

Cheers, Nooga

Any ideas what is causing this?

DNS doesn't update when IP changes on VDI

I have approx 95% of my end users set up with VDIs (VMware Horizon View). When we have to reset or recompose a seat it typically gets a new IP as AD sees it as a new computer but when the VDI gets the new IP it doesn't update DNS. DHCP lease is set for 30 min (per best practice). I cannot find anything in the event logs and we do not get name conflicts. Other than shortening the lease time, is there another recommendation? I am hoping DNS and DHCP can work together on this instead of having to delete the old DNS name each time this happens.

Thanks,

Automate esxi Configration in all hosts

Hi all,

I have 78 hosts across 3 clusters. All of them will be connected  to same EMC storage..same networking DVS configuration ..every thing same .I also know there is something called "Host Profile " which can be applied to all the hosts.

I just want to get the know the best way  , How can i apply  the configuration  of 1 ESXi host to all the hosts..keeping the track that iscsi adapters IP's are incrementally assigned..same with the Vmk ports IP's of DVS mapped to each hosts.

For example . if 1st host as 192.168.1.1 as iscsi adapter IP then 70 host has 192.1681.70..same for all the  other configurations like vmkernal ports..etc

I know  my Q is  simple..but any help will be appreciated..

Thanks

There is no Licensing part in web client

I have installed a new vSphere 6 environtment.with external Platform Services Controller. There was no error or warning during the installation. But, when I connect to the vCenter server with the Web client, I cannot see the Licensing part of the Administration menu. I use the Administrator@vsphere.local account, so the permissions are ok. When I want to add a host to the vCenter, I also get an error message related to license management:

The class com.vmware.license.client.cis.components.AssignLicenseFormFactory is not exported by any plugin.

I installed the newest version of vCenter.

Thanks in advance for any tips or help.

WS 12.1 - WinXP Steam -i cant login.. - multiple VM machines tried.

Hello,

i have problem with WS 12 last version and Windows XP guest - host is Win 7 - i cant log into Steam - when i click on login button after fill in username and pass - nothing happens - im still waiting on loging without any error.

I have tried multiple installations of Xp and even working physical one moved into virtual - what is my target - play old XP only games is virtual and enjoy new DX9 2GB Vram.

Well Valve, should to make more proper login timeout handling, but its Vmware WS issue..
Otherwise network is working - all apps are working, i have tried bridged and nat network, but issue is same for both.

I could be theoretically problem with my router, but Steam on physical machines running fine.

I sure that it worked with previous versions of WS.

  Firewall and antivirus -disabled.

In Win 7 x64 guest its working.

  Could some else try it?

Is there any hint how to debug it?

I know that there are also users with physical installation of Windows with same bug, but im pretty sure that (i dont P2V clone of working installation), i dont have any issues related to it.
