Hi guys,
I have an ESXi 5.1 box with an LSI 9240-8i RAID contoller in a Supermicro X9S series motherboard. As a RAID controller the card works great, but I have 2 problems with the CIM drive heath\monitoring agent component. The latest version of the CIM provider & driver were installed per the instructions located here:
http://www.tinkertry.com/lsi92xx-health-under-esxi-51/
The first problem is that the CIM server doesn't start automatically on boot even though it is set in it's config (in the VI Client -> Config tab -> Services -> Properties -> CIM Service -> Options -> start & stop with host). This isn't a big deal given that I only reboot the box a half dozen times a year!
The second problem is that the "Storage" icon that the LSI CIM service creates under the Config tab -> Health Status disappears after a couple of hours. I can get it back by stopping & starting the CIM service in the same spot I have to start it when I boot the box, but certainly the CIM provider should continue running.
Can anyone offer advice about how to figure out why the CIM provider stops working? Is there a CIM service-specific log file I can review?
