Upgrading from 7 to 8/9 causes colors to be all washed out.

I've been using VMware Workstation 7 (since i had access to it) to run a few games through, some cause they don't allow miltiple clients localy, and some coz they wont run on my current OS.

A year ago or so i was looking in to upgrading from 7 to 8, and grabbed the "try for free" kit, and found out, performance was perhaps faster, but colors were all washed out. I played around with it for a while, and then dropped it, never getting a grasp on what was going on.

So, i stuck to VMware Workstation 7.

Recently, I'm guessing due to a windows 7 security update / patch, the games started crashing the graphics on the VM's when they load. I'm assuming it's something with the DirectX launching. So i tried to work around it by trying a newer workstation. Grabbed the free trial kit and what do you know... The same washed out color issue i had with 8 is still there. I've been poking and prodding this thing for a bit trying to figure out whats going on, but to be honest, i have no clue, and i'd really like a fix. Not so much to Vmware Workstation 7, altho i bet i could uninstall a certain hotfix and it would work again, but it's sort of time to move on anyway...

Does anyone have any idea as to whats going on, why the colors are all "washed out" and what to do about it?

B!
