Hi,
We have 2 HP Proliant Servers (ML350 G5 and ML350 G6), each running ESXi free licensed.
VM's are on shared storage (SAN, connected via dedicated gigabit, mounted via NFS)
jumbo frames are enabled.
We are using the ghettoVCB-script at night to backup our VM's.
Backup target is another share on same SAN.
I have been struggling why backup speed on ML350 G6 is 60MB/s and on ML350 G5 is 45MB/s.
Need to get better speeds to be able to get everything backed up in 10 hours.
Now I've read somewhere that because ghettoVCB is running in service console, and service
console is resource throttled, that backup speeds are limited.
In the vSphere Client, I went to Host > Configuration > System Resource Allocation > Edit...
and changed the cpu reservation to 1500MHz (default 300).
But this did not improve ghettoVCB backup speed.
Also changed memory reservation but no better results.
Can anybody advise on improving ghettovcb speed?
I know ghettoVCBg2 does not run in service console and gives better performance, but I
do not have licensed version of ESXi, which is required for ghettoVCBg2.
Thx,
Thomas.
