How to control a users experience?

I am currently running a Clustered pair of 2 ESXi Hosts running ESXi 4.1.0u3, managed by a vCenter Server.  I am still relatively new to vCenter and all of it's functionality.

I was wondering if the following tasks were possible:

  1. When a user/users logs into the vCenter Server via vSphere client, the first thing they are presented with is the vCenter Home Screen.  They then have to navigate their way to either making it into Hosts & Clusters or VMs & Templates.  I feel likeb this is an un-necessary waste of time and it will eventually confuse some people.
I would like to know if there is a way so that when a user/users login to the vCenter Server using the vSphere client - they are taken and placed right into either the Hosts & Clusters or VMs & Templates?

   2.  Where is the "appropriate/best practice" location to be giving users access to when they vSphere into vCenter to access specified VMs?  Would it be within Hosts & Clusters and then I would provide them the appropriate permissions/access based on each VM?  Or would it be within VMs & Templates, which then I would provide them the appropriate permissions/access based on the directories within the VMs & Templates.

   3.  When I give a user/users permissions/access to a datastore, how can I control what they have access to within the datastore?  Example:  I give Joe access to Datastore-X and in Datastore-X there are multiple directories, but I really only want him to have access to the directory titled Images.

   4.  In reference to the Logging Options within the vCenter Server Settings (none, verbose, warnings, information, trivia, and errors), is there a list that I can obtain that define WHAT is exactly included in each category?

Thanks guys, hope these are not stupid questions!
