“VirtualCenter Server service in vCenter Server 5.1 fails to start after rebooting the server"

I need some help with my VMware vCenter Server 5.1.0. After
the installation and configuration the system was running smooth for about a
week until for whatever reason it stopped responding. I can’t log on anymore.

I researched the issue and the VM knowledge Base article is
indicating the cause as follows:

  1. This is a known issue affecting VMware vCenter Server 5.1.x.

  2. This issue occurs because the vpxd service starts before the SSO service.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in vCenter Server 5.1 Update 1. To download vCenter Server 5.1 Update 1, see the VMware Download Center.

For more information, see the vCenter Server 5.1 Update 1 Release Notes.

To work around this issue when you do not want to upgrade:

1. Restart the vCenter Server SSO service.

2.Start the VMware VirtualCenter Server service.

Alternatively, you can set a dependency on the vpxd service to not start until SSO has been started, or
setup a delayed start.

I do have the latest vCenter Server 5.1 Update 1 installed and set the dependency on the vpdx service to not start until the SSO is
started but no luck so far

Any input appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

M
