Wrong screen resolution in full screen for OS X 10.8.4 & 10.9

We are Fusion 4 users and evaluating Fusion 5 vs. Parallels 8 for OS X virtualisation.

We found Fusion 5 was picking the wrong display size for "Best for Display" using full screen on a 27" iMac - the resolution picked is 2560 x 1600 and the image bad - bands down the side, fuzzy image.

Using 10.8.4 2560 x 1440 is listed under the scaled resolutions and so the issue can be worked around, though it is annoying if switching between full screen and windowed mode.

However 10.9 is a different situation - the behaviour is the same, with the bad display, but unfortunately 2560 x 1440 is not listed under the scaled resolutions and so the workaround is more of a challenge.

A workaround we discovered is to switch to "Best for Display" while in windowed mode (window too large for screen obviously), and then to go full screen, and that comes up 2560 x 1440. The Displays preference panel still does not display the resolution in its list - it shows "Scaled" but with no item selected. Making any changes here will lose the 2560 x 1440 resolution and the workaround needs to be redone - switch to window, resize, switch back. So it seems that in windowed mode VMWare knows the screen size, but in full screen it doesn't.

We had just reported that to the support email when we found this beta. So we obtain the beta, duped our 10.8.4 & 10.9 VMs, upgraded then to V10 hardware, and... the issue remains :-(

Is this a known issue, is there a simple workaround (switching back'n'forth between windowed and full-screen is not a good workaround), is it due to be fixed prior to release, etc?

TIA
