Is there a special requirement for VMs with large memory configurations - besides the network connectivity for the vMotion pNIC(s)?
I have a cluster with HA enabled only (no DRS). 1:1 ratio for high demanding SQL servers on my hosts.
- Hosts configuration: 512GB
- Running ESXi 5.1 fully up-to-date
- VM configuration: 490GB - with all reserved memory (i.e. no swap file on VMFS).
- About 100GB left on the VMFS datastore.
Initiating a vMotion from Host1 to Host2 of the VM issues the following error: "The hosts does not have sufficient memory resources to satisfy the reservation".
Reservation is 490GB, Host2 is the same as Host1 and no other VM is running on Host2.
Are there other parameters that need to be taken care of?
