Hi Guys,
Passed the VCP exam this morning with 84% - just under my goal of 85%
As said before. Know your stuff (REALLY know your stuff) and you will pass but even then there are a bunch of "dumb" questions which I feel should not be on the exam.
I'd rather have had more advanced technicial questions than be sitting with 7 questions which don't make any sense.... bad VMware.... very bad...
Use ESX 3.5 at work, over 10 ESX hosts and over 100 Server VMs + VDI with View 3
Study tools / methods for those who are looking at taking the exam - I did the following:
1) CBT training by Elias Khnaser - good but a few mistakes.
2) Read the following PDF's - every page of them. Created 50 pages of notes from these and reviewed multiple times.
Introduction to VMware Infrastructure (PDF)
VMware Infrastructure 3 Primer (PDF, Updated 1/3/2008)
Configuration Maximums for VMware Infrastructure 3 (PDF, Updated 6/18/2008)
Quick Start Guide (PDF, Updated 2/13/2009)
ESX Server 3 Installation Guide (PDF, Updated 2/13/2009)
Upgrade Guide (PDF, Updated 2/13/09)
Basic System Administration (PDF, Updated 2/13/2009)
Virtual Infrastructure Web Access Administrator's Guide (PDF)
ESX Server 3 Configuration Guide (PDF, Updated 1/23/2009)
Resource Management Guide (PDF)
Fibre Channel SAN Configuration Guide (PDF, Updated 02/12/2008)
iSCSI SAN Configuration Guide (PDF, Updated 2/01/2008)
Virtual Machine Backup Guide (PDF, Updated 2/21/2008)
Setup for Microsoft Cluster Service (PDF)
3) VCP Exam Cram by Elias Khnaser - again a few mistakes. Max 2 Serial ports for a VM? Come on!
4) Attended VCP I&C training last week - good for the exam but also think there are one or two errors in their course work which conflict with their .pdf's?
5) VMware's test online test Exam and VCP Exam Cram practice tests which came with the book.
6) Crossed my fingers when guessing answers for the crap questions
Keep it real
