Hi,
I've just passed the VCP-310 exam with score of 76 today.
While it's hot I'd like to provide some advices to those who are going to or planning to pass the exam in a near future.
There are 3 (well known) basics steps to become VCP:
1. Participate in a VMware authorized course.
2. Gain hands-on experience with VMware.Individuals who do not have the hands-on experience
find it very difficult to pass the exam.
3. Pass the VCP on VMware Infrastructure 3 exam. This exam is proctored through Pearson VUE, a thirdparty
testing company.

The documentations and resources for studying:
1. student book and materials form VMw authorized course
2. product documentations on:
http://www.vmware.com/support/pubs/vi_pages/vi_pubs_35u2.html
(especially from section Main Documentation Set)
3. read also BluePrint for understanding of the scale :

4. Mock Exam which you can find on
http://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrReg/plan.cfm?plan=9656&ui=www
is very helpful because of knowing the constructions of the VCP exam questions
(outside of official vmware sources you can probably find other similar testing exams. But neither Mock Exam nor 3rd party tests show you exactly the same questions as you will certainly get on the VCP exam)
How many questions and what the passing score really means ...
The good answer on those questions is here:

In other words - you are not able to find out the exact mechanism of evaluation your exam answers. Just to try to give the right answers on all of the questions and hope ...
and in the end ...
for gurus or system engineerings or administrators:
you cannot rely on your excelent hands-on experiences - just try up Mock Exam test to understand why
for theoretical students:
you cannot rely on your excelent memory and remembring of some numbers and phrases and Mock Exam questions. You need to have some fundamental knowledges of all related objectives like storages, networkings, servers, protocols, virtualization principles etc. and some hand-on experiences are needed too.for all:
if you passed the Mock Exam several times you are on a good way to pass VCP exam too.
That's all folks and good luck!
