Hi,
I installed VMware Player v7, created a VM (Windows) and wanted to install the VMware Tools throughPlayer > Manage > Install VMware Tools...but nothing happens when I click on this option. The following 2 other methods I found in a KB don't work either:
- Enter D:\setup.exe where D: is the first CD-ROM drive configured for your virtual machine =>NOKas the virtual drive doesn't show the VMware Tools.
- Searching for the ISO file in the installation folder => NOK: there is no ISO file.
After searching on the forum, I realized that VMware Player doesn't come with the VMware Tools and the workaround I used was to install VMware Workstation without license on another computer, find the "windows.iso" file, copy it onto the computer, mount it as a virtual drive and launch the setup from the guest.
The thing I don't get is why the option is available in the menu of VMware Player if the VMware Tools aren't?! It's very confusing for people new to VMware and only installing VMware Player...
