I am running Fusion 5.0.3 on Mountain Lion. I upgraded my Windows XP to Windows 8. Things start okay with a Windows 8 desktop, but when I attempt to open any app I get a Windows XP desktop, with no start button/menu and only a Recycle Bin icon. See screen shot attached. When I send ctrl-alt-del, it tells me there are no apps running. When I click "Restart" in the Fusion toolbar, it takes me to what looks like a Windows 8 background, and an endless process of "Configuring Windows Updates...x% complete...Do not turn off your computer." Then it "Restarts," and gives me yet another "Configuring Windows Updates" screen. Then back to Windows 8 and the whole process starts all over again. So I tried to click on a Microsoft app, like Mail, and it takes me to a sign up screen that I can't get out of. And it shows at the top that I'm in Windows XP.
