And another obsure/strange issue ran into yesturday.
Have a few vm's which are provisioned servers, they PXE boot citrix from a citrix 2.1 provisioning server.
so yesturday i reboot one after updating it's image, boots fine. Shut it down and start it up a bit later, and DRS puts it on a different host. PXE boot fails at DHCP (failed to obtain a DHCP address, no DHCP responses)
weird.. so i tried booting another few times, checked the DHCP server in the environment to ensure it was still working, all good there. citrix services are running fine as well.
i moved the vm to a differet host, and BAM, gets a dhcp and boots fine. So i started moving it around to see where it would work and fail.
turns out this particular vm is only obtaining a dhcp lease and booting when hosted on a single host in the pool of 4. (so works on 1, doesnt work on 2,3, or 4)
vm is using the VMXNET 3 NIC.
I haven't tested with other vm's yet, as they are production, but most of the provisioned vm's do reboot each night on a schedule.
All vms for the most part (and the vm which isn't booting) are all attached to the same vlan, on a distributed switch across all four hosts. all hosts are running multiple other vm's on the same vlan with no communication issues.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
