Lately every time I start my Vista virtual machine I don't get any sound. Upon boot up I got a message from fusion that says "Error starting sound stream. Playback may not work." It doesn't matter if I am running anything on that mac side that is playing sound. I can't think of any changes that would have caused this. I did check the settings to ensure that the sound card is enabled. I have made no recent updates to fusion or vmware tools and I am on version 5.0.3. My guest is Vista ultimate sp 2 32 bit. I have mac 10.8.3.
