Fusion 4.1.4 Causes Rainbow Wheel and Takes Forever to Load

Hi,

I posted back in January about my VMware Fusion causing my Mac to idle with the Rainbow wheel for some time at random.  I thought by making some settings changes it would work, but alas, the problem still exists.

I have found that it does not appear to be an issue with my XP emulator (or not completely), more the VMware application itself.  This fact was observed when I click the "General" icon from the "Settings" window with the virtual machine OFF.  It causes the Rainbow Wheel to manifest itself for up to 10 or 15 minutes.  NOTE, this is with the virtual machine NOT started.  What I always thought was an XP issue, I now believe it is an issue with the VMware itself.

I recently upgraded my iMac RAM from 4GB to 12GB and have allotted 3GB to the virtual machine, but again, I don't believe this matters since the issue, again, appears to be with the VMware Fusion application.

Is there a way to monitor the application to determine what causes the major slowdown?  In the VMware Fusion preferences window, I've enabled the Diagnostics (Enable debugging checks) as well as Enabled the Feedback (Help make VMware Fusion better...).  I've also changed the Gaming option to "Never optimize mouse for games" as this is my work cpu.

Any help would be most appreciated!

Thanks so much in advanced.

Michael
