Can't create Shortcuts to Win XP mode applications

I have windows 7 Pro and have it set up to run Windows XP mode.

But The virtual machine Microsoft use to run XP mode does not appear to be working properly - or maybe I have lost or corrupted files.

The problem is I can't open the host OS hard discs in XP mode. When I try to do this using XP mode Windows Explorer, the system reverts to Win 7 (desktop) and starts reloading XP mode again.

So I downloaded and installed VMware Player and loaded XP mode into it. It works well and I can now open the Win7 drives. I have also successfully loaded my applications.

What I can't do is set up short cuts to these applications on the Win 7 desktop.

I have followed the instructions which involve settings in the "Options/Unity" tab of setup, but some of the fields referred to do not appear.

Help would be appreciated
