Win 7 64bit host with win XP virtual

Hello All

The history of my problem is as follows: -

I had trouble in my host (Win 7 64 bit) with my usb ports recognising my flash drives.

I tried all the available suggestions on google to no avail

I updated my chipset and bios to no avail.

I then booted my system to safe mode and all usb ports work fine with all my usb flash drives

I then went into MSCONFIG and disabled all services and enabled them one by one until i found the cuplrit.

When VMUSBArbService (vmware-usbaritrator64.exe) is running my usb ports do not recognise any flash drives

When VMUSBArbService is NOT running my usb ports recognise my flash drives

All well and good but now when i go into VM Workstation the option to connect a usb device is missing, so i need that service running.

When i manually start the service (just before going into VMWS) then the usb devices show up in the removable device menu but when i click connect it just doesn't connect them.

Obviously there seems to be a conflict but its beyond my knowledge. Has anyone else come across this or can anyone suggest anything i could try?

many thanks

Shamus
