Hi - I converted a file server this weekend, which I thought went pretty smoothly. It running Server 2012, and has a C: MBR volume and a D: GPT volume. Windows 2012 dedupe is running on the D: volume.
The D drive was created too large, so using converter I selected it to be 70GB on the destination, down from 200GB. Once the conversion finished no errors were reported by the destination guest, or Converter.
When I look at the files on the destination all the files are the correct size. BUT there is only 8GB of disk space in use on the destination, but there is 33GB of space used on the source. The source reports that there is a 25GB deduplication savings. So it looks like VSS, or converter only copied unique file data, not deduped data during the file level conversion.
Has anyone seen this before, or is this documented anywhere?
Thanks,
