I am running vsphere 5.1. I need to increase the RAM on my vCenter server. And in order to do that I would have to shut it down and access it from its host to edit the settings. The host has ESXi-5.1.0 on it.
But the problem is, I am new to this organisation and what I found is that we don't have the root password for any of the host in this vCenter, the implementor guy didn't note it down anywhere and he has now left the organisation. The license is standard so can't try the host profile feature as well.
I need to ask, Is the only option left with me is to reinstall the ESXI on this host ?
If yes, can anyone help me how can I do it remotely ? This host is in a remote datacenter where I can't go. Can I have the steps to reinstall it from vCenter vSphere client 5.1.
