Dear board,
recently I installed four Windows Server 2012-VMs on my ESXi. It's a HP DL380G7 (Xeon E5645, 144GB RAM, HP P410i-Controller with 8 HP-SAS 500GB in RAID6).
All four VMs have a very poor performance, slow video, slow SMB speed.
I have some 2008R2-Windows Server on the same host which are fine. If I copy a file (e.g. a ISO) from my client to the server, I have about 80MB/s. If I do the same to one of my 2012 server, I get about 20MB/s or less. Sometimes the process cancels (network destination not found)... Even the same if I copy between the VMs. When copying the cpu-consumption rises to 70%, sometimes to 100%, the server isn't usable that time.
What I did and tested:
* installed 2012 Server by Standard-ISO (MS Action Pack-Download)
* made the update from ESXi 5.1 to 5.1U1 and updated VMWare Tools on all VMs
* changed network Card from E1000E to VMXNET3
* disabled SMB Signing
* changed from SVGA-drivers to Standard MS-display Driver (3D Acceleration is greyed out in VM-options!!!!)
* IP settings of all VMs are ok (DHCP)
All 2008R2 working fine, all 2012 are very slow....
What may I check or what did I wrong??
TIA and best regards from Germany
Matthias.
