vCenter Server in linked mode versus consolidating vCenters

Hoping for some advice...  I'm weighing the pros and cons of consolidating 6 remote vCenter Servers and having their ESXi clusters managed from the central headquarters vCenter server.

So far I see the following pros:

  1. Save on vCenter Server licensing (but how much?)
  2. Centralized administration where there are dedicated VMware administrators
  3. Potentially easier integration with vCOPS (not sure on this one as vCOPS can register with more than one vCenter IIRC)

Potential cons:

  1. Local System Admins at the remote sites will no longer have access to manage their cluster and hosts via their local vCenter - so no move capability to open a VM's console from the VI client for example
  2. Slow links to remote sites might cause issues managing the remote ESXi hosts from the centralized vCenter? (What type of problems might manifest?)
  3. ??

Hoping for any feedback or advice from the community- thanks!

Mike
